AOPA Sweepstakes Bonanza scheduled for June 2 Fly-In to AOPA HQ

More than 50 aircraft are slated for the static display at the eleventh annual Fly-In to AOPA headquarters June 2. Of special interest will be an aircraft featured in the latest edition of AOPA Pilot magazine—the AOPA Sweepstakes Bonanza.

Fresh out of the avionics shop with a cutting-edge "all glass" panel, the sweepstakes Bonanza is scheduled for its first public display at the Fly-In. The sophisticated panel includes the Meggitt Avionics New Generation Integrated Cockpit (MAGIC) electronic flight instrument system (EFIS), which replaces the traditional artificial horizon, directional gyro, airspeed, vertical speed, altimeter, and navigation displays with two active-matrix LCD screens. While the aircraft is still a work in progress (new paint and interior are next on the refurbishment schedule), pilots will be able to take a look at the most sophisticated V35 Bonanza in the world. The sweepstakes Bonanza will be awarded to a lucky AOPA member next year.

Pilots will also be able to get a firsthand look at the innovative Capstone avionics suite installed in several AOPA aircraft. This system promises affordable weather, traffic, and terrain information in GA cockpits.

New offerings from various aircraft manufacturers are also scheduled for the static display line.

Fly-In procedures, driving directions, and additional information are available online or by calling 888/462-3976.
