FAA likely to require revalidation of airport security badges

AOPA has learned that the FAA will likely require "revalidation" of all security identification display area (SIDA) badges issued at airports with an FAA Part 107 airport security program. (Part 107 airports are those with scheduled airline service.) In most cases, these ID badges are issued to airport employees and other airport businesses such as FBOs. At some airports, however, SIDA badges are also issued to general aviation aircraft owners to allow them to access certain restricted areas of the airport such as hangars and tiedowns. Pilots with SIDA photo ID badges from their airport should expect the airport to require revalidation of their ID sometime soon.
