IFR 'slot' reservations required for Augusta, Georgia, airports next week

Anticipating heavy air traffic into and out of the Augusta, Georgia, area for next week's Masters Golf Tournament, the FAA will implement a special traffic management program (STMP). IFR flights into or out of four airports in the Augusta area between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. EDT April 8 through 15 will require slot reservations. This may be of special interest to pilots headed to Sun 'n Fun in Florida who are planning an intermediate stop in northeastern Georgia. Pilots are also reminded that the sporting events notam remains in effect, prohibiting any flights within 3 nm and 3,000 ft agl of any major professional sporting event.

The airports affected are Augusta Regional at Bush Field (AGS), Daniel Field (DNL), Aiken Municipal (AIK), and Thomson-McDuffie County (HQU). The STMP will go into effect next Monday, April 8, and will continue through and including Monday, April 15.
