Construction continues on schedule for the pilots' center at First Flight Airfield in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The pilots' center is funded by AOPA on behalf of its membership to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight. The building is scheduled to open by the 99th anniversary on December 17, 2002, kicking off a year of commemorative events leading up to the centennial.

The 900-square-foot facility replaces a small structure about the size of a phone booth. It includes restrooms and, when fully functional, a pilots' work area that will include online weather and flight planning access, as well as telephones for contacting the local flight service station.
