Statue of Liberty off-limits for New Year's Eve

Click for larger image The FAA has issued a notice to airmen (notam) restricting the airspace around the Statue of Liberty for New Year's Eve.

Notam 2/3023 establishes a 1-nm-radius, 1,500-feet temporary flight restriction around the Statue of Liberty from 1600 local time on December 31, 2002, through 0400 local time New Year's Day. Only law enforcement, military, and medevac aircraft are allowed to operate inside the TFR. Pilots, especially those using the Hudson River VFR corridor, are advised to use exercise due care when navigating in the area during the New Year's celebration.
