Bidding now open on 'Spirit of Liberty' Trinidad GT

Proceeds to benefit Air Safety Foundation

Bidding for the biggest, most expensive item ever offered in ASF's Online Silent Auction has now begun. The "Spirit of Liberty" sports a custom paint job depicting the French and U.S. flags draped across the aircraft and a panel with all the bells and whistles.

Socata Aircraft, Inc., donated the aircraft to benefit ASF's continuing mission to improve aviation safety. Bidding will continue until August 31. The winner will be announced at AOPA Expo in Palm Springs, California, October 24-26. Every dollar over the minimum reserve will go to ASF.

Besides the dramatic custom exterior, the "Spirit of Liberty" has a state-of-the-art panel including a Honeywell Bendix/King complete suite with KAP 150 three-axis autopilot, KMD 550 multifunction display, KLN 94 color GPS, KDR 510 weather information datalink receiver, Honeywell IHAS 5000 traffic information system with EGPWS, and a Goodrich Stormscope. Bendix/King and Goodrich donated the avionics, while Banyan Aircraft Services of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, donated the avionics installation services.
