It really pays to attend Air Safety Foundation seminars—in more ways than one! Everyone who participates in ASF safety seminars is automatically entered into a quarterly drawing to win a Sporty's handheld transceiver. The latest winner is Mary Ann Davis of Boulder, Colorado. Davis attended the February 5 "Spatial Disorientation" seminar in Denver. Some 501 pilots attended the program, which helps pilots to recognize and cope with spatial disorientation.
Davis, a nine-year AOPA member, is working on her instrument rating and described the seminar as "very good" and "very helpful." This was not her first ASF seminar; she's taken more than a half dozen other safety seminars and says she plans to attend others in the future. In her spare time, Davis also volunteers as an aviation safety counselor for the FAA as part of the Wings program.
ASF safety seminars are held throughout the year all around the country. To find the location nearest you, check out the ASF Web site.
The Air Safety Foundation has worked for some 50 years to improve aviation safety, through pilot seminars and safety publications available to all pilots. ASF is a nonprofit charitable foundation and is affiliated with AOPA, the world's largest civil aviation organization, with more than 382,000 members.
