The FAA has established an additional temporary flight restriction in the New York City area. The 2-nm TFR centers on the UN general assembly building. The new TFR was issued by notam on Monday and will be operational between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. EDT September 13-20.
This restriction reduces by half the area available for transitioning the river approximately 2.5 nm to 5 nm north of the Statue of Liberty. AOPA advises pilots to use extreme caution when operating in and around this airspace.
