The Department of Homeland Security has instructed the FAA to issue a temporary flight restriction (TFR) over downtown Chicago. The restricted area stretches 8 nm along and 2 nm inland from the Lake Michigan shoreline, to an altitude of 3,000 feet.

"AOPA is trusting that this TFR is based on true security concerns and not politically driven," said AOPA Senior Vice President Andy Cebula. "We would hate to see a flood of requests for unwarranted or politically driven airspace restrictions."
