AOPA goes to bat for 4th of July festivities affected by Presidential TFR in Dayton

AOPA is working to rescue a community Fourth of July event that is being affected by a presidential temporary flight restriction (TFR) at Dayton, Ohio.

Every Independence Day, pilots at Grimes Field in Urbana, Ohio, offer community airplane rides.

This Fourth, Grimes Field (I74) sits within a TFR established for President Bush's visit to nearby Dayton, Ohio. As it stands now, flights at Grimes Field are permitted for ingress or egress only, no loitering.

AOPA has been in touch with government agencies to see if some allowance can be made to allow the airplane ride tradition to continue.
