When Rich Burbage, AOPA 4040898, of Vero Beach, Fla., came north to visit Nicole Denno in northern Virginia, he decided he was just too close to AOPA's Frederick, Md., headquarters not to come see the Centennial of Flight Sweepstakes Waco.

"He's in heaven," said Denno as Burbage peered under the cowling at the big Jacobs radial and into the cockpit of the beautifully restored 1940 Waco UPF-7 biplane.

Burbage and Denno are just two of the many visitors who stop by AOPA's headquarters each year. The building is open for members to come in and visit every business day.

"This is the members' building. We all just work here," grinned AOPA President Phil Boyer. "All of us look forward to every chance we get to talk one-on-one with the pilots who make AOPA what it is."

AOPA has its own ramp for members who fly in and plenty of parking for those who drive. Members need only stop at the reception desk in the lobby to get a guided tour and a chance to meet face-to-face with AOPA staffers who are usually just voices at the other end of the phone.
