AOPA discusses GA issues with New Jersey Senate leader

AOPA has focused its efforts in New Jersey on defeating several bills designed to discourage airport development projects. An AOPA representative traveled to Trenton this week to meet with New Jersey Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance, sponsor of one of the bills (Senate Bill 1358). During the meeting, AOPA Manager of State Affairs Keith Holt explained to Lance the importance of allowing airports to meet the safety and facility needs of their general aviation tenants. "General aviation airports should not be prevented from developing modern facilities with good amenities that benefit the general aviation community and provide for a safer airport," Holt said. Thanks to improving community relations with airport operators, Lance said he would not ask for his bill to be heard.
