FAA issues ADIZ transponder notam

Pilots flying in the Washington, D.C., Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) should be aware that another unique operational requirement has been added. The FAA has issued a notam directing that a pilot exit the ADIZ by the most direct route if they become aware that their transponder is NOT continuously transmitting the assigned ATC "squawk" code. This requirement is different than the guidance provided in the Aeronautical Information Manual and applies specifically to the ADIZ.
