Roy Wilbanks can take to the skies solo now in his better-than-new Piper Twin Comanche. That's because he just earned his multiengine land rating Friday afternoon.
Wilbanks' examiner, Carroll Joye, was on hand at the South Carolina Aviation Association's annual hall of fame banquet in Myrtle Beach when a shocked Wilbanks accepted the AOPA Sweepstakes grand prize. Joye gave AOPA the inside scoop on his flight test.
"I just completed one of the most satisfying pilot examinations I have ever given in the most beautiful and well equipped Twin Comanche I have ever seen," Joye wrote in an e-mail to AOPA. "Just thought you would like to know that Roy did a fantastic job on the flight test."
Congratulations Roy!
