AOPA works with FAA to change airway, improve navigation
The FAA announced Wednesday that the origination point of Victor 537 will be changed from the Vero Beach vortac to the Palm Beach vortac. Previously, pilots flying from Vero Beach to the Palm Beach terminal area had to be cleared through multiple Victor airways. This modification, however, incorporates that route into an extension of V537. This will help "reduce pilot-controller communications, alleviate radio frequency congestion, reduce the potential for pilot readback errors, and enhance the management of aircraft operations in the Vero Beach-Palm Beach area," according to the FAA. "AOPA applauds the FAA for its continued efforts to improve navigation in the National Airspace System," said Heidi Williams, AOPA director of air traffic services. The change will become effective October 27.
