Garmin issues service alert for new GNS 430 units

Garmin has issued a service alert for owners of recently manufactured GNS 430 and GNS 430A avionics. The company said it discovered a problem with the products manufactured between February 23 and March 21, 2005, where the units may trip the aircraft circuit breaker, rendering the units inoperative. Garmin said owners of these units should forgo IFR operations. The alert affects an estimated 458 units. Owners should contact the local Garmin authorized service center immediately to arrange for modification or exchange of the units. Download the service alert.
