AOPA guide shows what you can do to cut maintenance costs
Tinkering with mechanical devices is an American pastime. And AOPA members have been contacting the association, wondering just how much work they can do themselves on their airplanes to curb maintenance costs.
Check out AOPA's Guide to Preventive Maintenance, which provides a helpful archive of magazine articles and FAA documents.
The FAA lists 32 preventive tasks non-mechanics can perform such as changing tires and servicing batteries. While the cost savings are obvious, it's also an education that puts you more in touch with the intricacies of your airplane.
