Fly-in

Airshows, fly-ins, and barbecue get-togethers are popping up all across the country. So get out your sectionals and plotters, and hit the airways.

But you should be careful to check notams - particularly for airshow TFRs. If you are planning a cross-country flight that passes over or near an airport, call the local flight service station for that airport. TFRs for smaller airshows are often published as local notams, and you must ask specifically for those if you are getting a briefing from a FSS outside the local area.

If you are looking for fly-in events near you, check out AOPA's online calendar of events. You can use AOPA's Airport Directory Online to gather information - like nearby attractions, lodging, and restaurants - for the airports you plan to visit.

One event you won't want to miss is the AOPA Fly-In and Open House! Mark your calendar for June 3.
