Celebrate National Aviation Day
August 19 is National Aviation Day. Why August 19? It's Orville Wright's birthday. And it's a perfect opportunity to celebrate general aviation.
If you haven't already received your updated AOPA Airport Watch material in the mail, you will very soon. National Aviation Day is a great chance to showcase Airport Watch.
Consider getting together with your hangar or tiedown neighbors at the airport for a cookout. Consider inviting renter pilots you know. Like successful neighborhood watch programs, show the community at large that we're there, and we're paying attention.
Aviation Day is also a great time to take someone for an introductory flight and sign them up for the AOPA Project Pilot program.
