Additional Washington, D.C., airspace restrictions for President Ford's funeral

The FAA has issued additional airspace restrictions within the Washington Air Defense Identification Zone during the funeral ceremonies for former President Gerald R. Ford.

During the day of the funeral itself, January 2, no general aviation flights will be allowed within the ADIZ from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time, with the exception of flights on IFR flight plans to and from Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI).

From 5 p.m. December 30 through 1 p.m. January 2, an enhanced Flight Restriction Zone will also be in effect around the Washington Vortac (DCA), prohibiting GA flights to and from Reagan Washington National Airport and suspending many of the waivers for flight within the FRZ.
