Former Air Safety Foundation executive dies

AOPA notes with sadness the death Ralph F. Nelson, who served the cause of aviation safety for more than 50 years. Nelson, 71, died February 22 in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Nelson worked for what is now the AOPA Air Safety Foundation for 35 years, starting as an instructor in the foundation's famous "180 Rating Course," and ultimately becoming Air Safety Foundation executive director. (See " The AOPA Air Safety Foundation's History" for more on Nelson's contributions.)
