In order to cut costs, the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport Authority in North Carolina is proposing to decommission the Jambe NDB/locator outer marker (LOM). The non-federal navaid is owned by the airport authority and serves Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport and Wilson Industrial Air Center. Both airports would continue to be served by GPS and ground-based approaches. The FAA is seeking comments from pilots on the proposal. "Local knowledge is important," said Randy Kenagy, AOPA senior director of advanced technology. "Only you know for sure if the navaid still serves a useful purpose. So tell the FAA about it." The comment deadline is August 14. See AOPA Online for complete information.
