Tennessee county proposes to remove NDB

In order to cut costs, the county of Campbell, Tennessee, is proposing to decommission the Jacksboro (JAU) NDB. The non-federal navaid is owned by the county and serves Campbell County Airport. The airport would continue to be served by VOR/DME RNAV and GPS approaches. The FAA is seeking comments from pilots on the proposal. "Local knowledge is important," said Randy Kenagy, AOPA senior director of advanced technology. "Only you know for sure if the navaid still serves a useful purpose. So tell the FAA about it." The comment deadline is August 14.
