Norman J. Crabtree, 80, the former deputy director of aviation for the Ohio Department of Transportation, died last week. He was also a former instructor at Ohio University and Ohio State University, and an aviation advisor at Miami University and Columbus State. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, Crabtree was a lifelong aviator who devoted his life to the advancement of civil aviation. "During his long tenure as Ohio aviation deputy director, Norm was noted for his innovative and practical solutions and his advocacy for an airport in every county," said AOPA President Phil Boyer. "We will all miss his passion for general aviation."
