A proposed residential development known as Aviator Heights near Swanson Airport in Eatonville, Washington, blatantly violates FAA regulations, the Washington State Code, and the town's existing comprehensive plan, AOPA has told Eatonville officials for the second time since July 2005. The town continues to consider a proposal that would create obstructions near the runway and infringe on protected areas around the airport that must be kept clear of residential development, jeopardizing the safety of pilots and residents. "AOPA cannot correct errors in judgment made previously by the town in allowing residential development around the airport, but we cannot and will not sit idly by when an even more egregious development is proposed," AOPA Vice President of Airports Bill Dunn wrote to the town.
