The equation is simple: AOPA membership plus safety training equals exceptional savings on aircraft insurance from the AOPA Insurance Agency.
The AOPA Insurance Agency's accident forgiveness program gives AOPA members credit for something many of them do anyway — taking free training courses from the AOPA Air Safety Foundation.
"We created the accident forgiveness program to reward pilots for taking safety seriously," explained Greg Sterling, AOPA Insurance Agency general manager. "With as little as two hours of training a year, you can receive a $100 deductible waiver and a promise that your insurance premiums won't go up following most kinds of accidents, even if you are at fault."
The accident forgiveness program is available only on select renters and owners policies and requires pilots to take at least one qualified course from the Air Safety Foundation every six months. The courses are free and are available online or in person at locations across the country. Pilots who have an accident after participating in the training simply can present their certificate of completion to receive their deductible waiver. In addition, AOPA members receive a 5-percent member discount just for purchasing their insurance through the AOPA Insurance Agency.

Keep it simple: That's the idea behind the AOPA Air Safety Foundation's series of aviation flashcards. The cards are available in three varieties: aircraft, airspace, and runway safety. Prepping for a checkride or getting checked out in a new type? The aircraft cards are a great way to memorize the airplane-specific facts you need to know. Looking for a quick airspace refresher? Each airspace flashcard features a chart excerpt highlighting a particular type of airspace and summarizes the most important facts. Rusty on airport signage and runway/taxiway markings? The runway safety cards can help you brush up before your next flight.
To download the free cards, visit the ASF Web site, or request a printed copy by calling 800/USA-AOPA (872-2672).
The annual meeting of the members of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association will be held at noon on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Wings Field, Ambler, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of receiving reports and transacting such other business as may properly come before the meeting, including the election of trustees. — John S.
