AOPA Expo 2007--your career pilot resource

Are you interested in becoming a career pilot? Does our new "Career Pilot" section resonate with you and your plans for your professional future? If so, plan to visit AOPA Expo 2007 this year.

AOPA Expo 2007 will be held October 4 through 6 in Hartford, Connecticut--our very first time in this venue. (Expo's location changes from year to year and coast to coast to make the event convenient for more members.)

The Connecticut Convention Center is your starting point for informative seminars and free general sessions packed with timely developments in general aviation. AOPA Flight Training columnist Wayne Phillips will talk about career pilots, including strategies to get you where you want to be and the hiring outlook. Phillips will speak on Saturday, October 6, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Room 13.

Of course, Expo offers great information for all students. Hear a lively presentation by AOPA Flight Training columnist Rod Machado. Tom Haines, editor in chief of AOPA Flight Training and AOPA Pilot, will speak on buying your first airplane. AOPA Pilot Editor at Large Tom Horne will talk about using Internet weather sources--a particularly timely topic as pilots grapple with delays using flight service station briefers. These are just a few of the can't-miss topics you'll discover.

At any point in the day, take a break from the action to wander through the exhibit hall. Here's where you can shop for anything from a new headset to a handheld GPS, a portable transceiver, or a flight bag. Try it on, try it out--compare the features of multiple models and make your best purchasing decision. Then take the hands-on fun to the next level by visiting the aircraft on display at the Hartford-Brainard Airport, where you'll find manufacturer representatives available to answer all of your questions.

Visit AOPA Flight Training Online for a multimedia presentation that shows AOPA Expo from the perspective of three student pilots. See the Expo page on AOPA Online for complete details, including registration, fly-in or drive-in directions, seminar descriptions, a list of exhibitors, and other must-know information.
