AOPA Project Pilot

Success story

Greetings from Seattle,
I have been mentoring Gordon Prinster, AOPA 5653294, for more than a year — that is, I have provided him all his flight training for free. I am a schoolteacher and Civil Air Patrol (CAP) member dedicated to spreading my joy of aviation.

I became a flight instructor to give flight and ground instruction to school kids, teachers, and CAP members in what I believe is my calling to service. I have been fortunate to touch the lives of several hundred kids and adults.

Gordon recently earned his private pilot certificate through a great deal of hard work, sacrifice, and focus.

He relinquished many weekends, evenings, and school vacations to study with me and fly until competence was second nature. He even postponed a family trip (several times) to get in training and his checkride. I couldn't be more proud of him and his accomplishment. I wish I had thought of nominating him through AOPA Project Pilot earlier.

Yours in aviation,
— Rich Edgerton, AOPA 3840752
