Pilots operating at Orlando International, Tampa International, Miami International, and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International should expect a significant increase in security measures at those airports. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has deployed 160 security officers and other officials to these airports as part of a series of "airport employee security operations" to increase security measures, according to the TSA's press release. AOPA anticipates that general aviation pilots will see the security increase at airport access points. The TSA's move comes after news broke of the arrest of a Comair employee who had smuggled guns and drugs on board an airliner at Orlando International Airport.
