AOPA's Airport Directory

AOPA's Airport Directory 2007-2008, a key AOPA member benefit and a great flight planning tool for pilots of all levels, will soon be ready to mail. The directory includes airport information similar to what you will find in the FAA's Airport/Facility Directories. But there's much more in this book than basic airport data.

AOPA's Airport Directory contains comprehensive preflight information on 4,357 aviation businesses, such as fixed-base operators, flight schools, and repair facilities. Other practical information includes individual toll-free Flight Service Station telephone numbers associated with almost every airport, plus 31,391 listings for restaurants and lodging--a helpful reference for planning weekend trips. There are 10,435 listings for car rental and taxi service, plus 3,526 listings for general ground transportation.

You'll also find nearly 2,900 airport diagrams--great to help visualize your pattern entry and carry with you as you travel to unfamiliar airports. A new printing process makes these diagrams crisper and clearer than ever.

The soft-cover directory, printed once every two years, is provided free to all paid AOPA members. If you signed up for a free six-month introductory AOPA Flight Training membership, you already have complete access to AOPA's Airport Directory Online--and you may already have noticed some great new features for the online version. It now offers thumbnail sectional views that, when expanded, display color-coded symbols which provide current METAR information for airports with weather-reporting capability.

The online version, which is updated every business day, is a great companion to the book. But remember, you can only receive the printed version with a paid membership. For more information on how to get your own copy of AOPA's Airport Directory, see AOPA Online or call our Member Services Department at 800/USA-AOPA.
