Airlines hired 1,123 pilots during July, only nine fewer than June, bringing the year-to-date total to 7,374, according to Atlanta-based AIR, Inc. United Airlines and Northwest Airlines have recalled all their pilots, reducing the number of pilots currently furloughed to 4,568 in July.
