During June, airlines reporting to Atlanta-based AIR, Inc. hired 1,132 pilots, for a midyear total of 6,181--which represents about 2,000 more new pilot positions than at this time last year. The company estimates that more than 12,000 new pilot jobs will be created by the end of the calendar year.
