Cessna Aircraft Company has halted a $13 million expansion at its Pawnee, Kan., facility. A construction company filed a building permit for the project on Oct. 1 but was pulled off the job before major work could start.
“Everything has come on pretty suddenly,” a company spokesman told the Journal.
FlightSafety International is delaying plans for expansion at its Cessna Citation training center, according to the Wichita Eagle. Originally the plan was to have additional space built by the end of 2009, but construction will wait to evaluate how the economy is doing at the end of March 2009. If construction is delayed at that time, an existing simulator will be moved out in mid-2009 to make way for a Cessna Citation CJ4 simulator. That was the original purpose of the expansion, although a maintenance training facility is in the planning stage as well.
