Pilots who fly in and around West Palm Beach will have the opportunity to hear from the FAA about plans to consolidate the West Palm Beach Tracon into the Miami facility.
Under the plan, West Palm Beach is slated to receive a new air traffic control tower when the tracon moves, likely in 2010. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) will host the meeting rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Clay Hutchison Agricultural Center, 559 North Military Trail, in West Palm Beach, Fla. AOPA members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the FAA’s plans and express any concerns they may have about the consolidation.
“This is the best opportunity for local pilots to get firsthand information about planned changes and provide their input,” said Heidi Williams, AOPA director of air traffic services. At the urging of AOPA, the FAA is holding similar meetings at locations nationwide where tracon consolidations are planned.
