AOPA Board of Trustees chairman honored

click for larger image R. Anderson Pew, AOPA Board of Trustees chairman, was honored last night by AOPA President Phil Boyer for 30 years of service to the association and AOPA Air Safety Foundation. Pew, who serves without compensation, has guided both organizations through three presidents. AOPA has grown from 40,000 members to almost 365,000 members under his tenure. Boyer presented the award to the AOPA chairman at the annual two-day AOPA Trustee Board Retreat where the leadership sets strategy and assists in guiding the organizations to future endeavors. AOPA trustees serve without compensation, and they can have no business ties to aviation. Chairman Pew owns a single-engine Comanche and flies some 200 hours a year for pleasure.
