T-route planned to ease navigation around Houston

Pilots traversing the busy Houston Class B airspace could get some relief from a proposed T-route. Under the FAA proposal, IFR pilots with approved RNAV and GPS equipment will be able to file the T-route to obtain more efficient routing. AOPA, which has long supported the creation of such routes to ease congestion and improve efficiency around busy terminal areas, plans to file comments in support of the proposal. Pilots who are affected have until Aug. 18 to comment. Comments should be identified as pertaining to “FAA Docket No. FAA-2008-0716 and Airspace Docket No. 08-ASW-9” and be sent to U.S. Department of Transportation, Docket Operations, M-30, 1200 New Jersey Avenue S.E., West Building Ground Floor, Room W12-140, Washington, D.C. 20590-0001. For more information about T-routes, see AOPA’s issue brief.
