Runway closure, reconstruction planned for Tahoe

Beginning Aug. 4, Runway 18/36 at Lake Tahoe Airport will be closed for reconstruction. The closure is expected to end Nov. 1. During the closure, aircraft weighing less than 12,500 pounds will be able to use 5,000 feet of Taxiway A as a daytime VFR runway. Runway 18/36 will be narrowed from 150 feet to 100 feet to provide 12-foot shoulders on each side. The runway length will be unchanged at 8,544 feet, but the landing threshold for Runway 18 will be displaced by 800 feet to create an adequate safety area on the north end of the runway. Pilots flying to the area are urged to check notams for the latest information.
