King courses moving online

King Schools will make its pilot exam courses available online.

“We’ve reached the point where it’s as fast over the Internet as it is on the computer,” John King said at AirVenture 2008.

The Private Pilot Exam Course is now available online for $279—the same price as CD and DVD versions of the product, which the company will continue to sell. The instrument rating course will be offered online within a month; it will be followed by other King School courses including commercial pilot, sport pilot, and avionics courses such as Cleared for Flying the Garmin G1000.

Online courses allow King Schools to update content whenever necessary, and will make the courses available on Apple Macintosh personal computers for the first time. King Schools also will include a risk management course free with every knowledge test sold.

The free risk management courses show the company’s commitment to better pilot training, Martha King said. “Those courses are life-savers,” she added.
