Aviation-themed holiday cards brighten the season and help support the AOPA Air Safety Foundation

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation's 2000 collection of 20 aviation-theme holiday greeting cards, celebrating ASF's fiftieth anniversary, is now available.

The cards feature aircraft ranging from a Piper J-3 Cub on skis to a Twin Otter, all shown against beautiful seasonal backgrounds. New this year is a card design featuring the helicopter.

All cards are printed on high-quality recycled paper with vegetable-based inks. "What better way to enjoy the season than to help improve GA's safety record?" asked ASF Executive Director Bruce Landsberg. "These original designs express your sentiment to friends and family, make a statement about your passion for flying, and help support a cause you care about."

Royalties go to support ASF's nationally recognized free safety seminars, which are open to all pilots. More than 250 safety seminars were conducted nationwide last year, reaching more than 32,000 pilots.

Some of this year's holiday card designs include:

• Taking Off for Christmas, depicting a Beech Staggerwing flying toward a full moon over snow-capped mountains and a fog-enshrouded canyon.
• Perfect Holiday, featuring a Stearman near a farmhouse decorated for the holiday season.
• Santa's Arrival, an original cartoon of Santa in a biplane gliding toward a landing on a snow-covered field with a reindeer "landing signal officer" providing expert guidance.
• Heading Home, two helicopters silhouetted by a gorgeous sunset.

There are 20 designs in all from which to choose. Boxes of 25 cards with envelopes range in price from $23 to $28. Personalized imprinting is free when ordering three or more boxes.

For each box ordered, ASF supporters receive two free gifts—a set of return address labels and a sheet of decorative holiday seals.
