FAA proposes decommissioning vital Minnesota VOR

The FAA wants to decommission the Bemidji VOR near Bemidji Regional Airport in northern Minnesota. AOPA researched the effect that decommissioning the VOR would have on the National Airspace System and found some significant negative impacts. The VOR supports four Victor airways (V430, V191, V175, and V82) and is used for multiple approaches into Bemidji Regional. The VOR is used for the airport’s Runway 31 ILS missed approach, Runway 31 VOR/DME TACAN approach, and Runway 13 VOR/GPS approach. Pilots should submit comments to the FAA by July 22, explaining how the loss of the Bemidji VOR would affect their flying. Read the public notice for more information.
