AOPA asks OH governor to expand tax exemption

Ohio’s General Assembly has presented Gov. Ted Strickland with a budget plan that would expand the state’s aviation sales tax exemption to include repairs and parts for general aviation aircraft, and AOPA is asking the governor to accept the proposal. In a June 18 letter, AOPA President Phil Boyer urged Gov. Strickland to extend the tax exemption, pointing out the benefits for pilots and the state’s economy. “We want the governor to understand the positive impact extending the aviation sales tax exemption will have for pilots and aircraft owners,” said Boyer. “Other states have already found that making flying more affordable leads to expanded economic activity.”
