AOPA Services

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is general aviation's advocate and the largest, most influential aviation association in the world. Its membership of more than 414,000 comprises nearly two-thirds of all pilots in the United States. Visit and bookmark our Web site designed especially to serve the information needs of student pilots. All AOPA Flight Training members, including those with free six-month introductory memberships, have full access to AOPA's resources, including the members-only areas of AOPA Flight Training Online and AOPA Online.

Join us in June

It's the largest one-day fly-in on the East Coast--AOPA's eighteenth annual Fly-In and Open House on Saturday, June 7, at Frederick (Maryland) Municipal Airport--where you'll find hundreds of pilots and thousands of aviation enthusiasts. What's the attraction? A day of free exhibits, seminars, dozens of aircraft on display, and tours of the association's headquarters.

You can meet the staff who work to protect your freedom to fly, inform you of the latest general aviation news, provide you with helpful safety tips, and offer the best member products and services.

All segments of general aviation will be represented in our static aircraft display, including AOPA's 2008 Get Your Glass Sweepstakes airplane--a glass-panel-equipped 1976 Piper Archer.

Bring your friends and family members who are interested in learning to fly and sign up for AOPA Project Pilot. There will be educational seminars available covering topics like flying techniques, aircraft ownership, and safety. Be prepared to laugh and learn as AOPA Flight Training columnist Rod Machado discusses the lighter side of aviation. Food will be for sale from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you fly in with a pilot friend or flight instructor, the AOPA Air Safety Foundation reminds you to be alert and watch for traffic. Take advantage of ASF's fly-in resources online, which include everything you need to know about arrival procedures, holding patterns, airport charts, frequencies to use or monitor, and temporary control tower information for traffic management. And, as always, check for notams affecting the area as a part of your preflight procedures.

The fly-in isn't just for pilots traveling by aircraft. If you are making the trip by car, ample free parking is available.

Continuously updated fly-in information will be posted before, during, and after the event on AOPA Online.
