Scottsdale Jet Preview aims high

Scottsdale Jet Preview aims high

By AOPA ePublishing staff

Can’t decide between a new sports car and a new airplane? While the obvious answer is to buy both, Airport Journals and Porsche appreciate this happy dilemma and have teamed up to sponsor a series of nationwide events designed to make the decision easier and more enjoyable.

The latest of these shows—the Business Aircraft & Jet Preview—took place March 6 at the Scottsdale Air Center, a fixed-based operator at the Scottsdale Airport in Phoenix. In addition to a full line of Porsche automobiles, the event featured 29 of the latest aircraft, speedboats, and booth displays from various businesses seeking access to an upscale clientele.

Participants included Hawker Beechcraft, Cessna, Cirrus Design, Diamond Aircraft, Eclipse Aviation, Flight Design, Mooney, Piaggio Aero, Piper Aircraft, Tradewind Turbines, and Viper Aircraft, along with a number of charter operators and aviation service providers. While Jet Preview can be considered modest when compared with general aviation’s larger gatherings, sales representatives consider it worth the investment.

“It’s definitely a show we need to be at,” said Kelly Harper, regional sales manager for Cutter Aviation, the Phoenix-based Beechcraft distributor. “It gives us a chance to reacquaint ourselves with customers in the area, and meet new ones. Most buyers in this market are very educated; this gives them a chance to compare all the airplanes they’re considering in one place.”

Ten more Jet Preview shows are planned through the remainder of the year, at locations throughout the United States. The next, scheduled for April 17, is slated to occur in Oakland, Calif. Subsequent events are scheduled for Van Nuys, Calif.; Boston; Seattle; Denver; New York; Chicago; Carlsbad, Calif.; Boca Raton, Fla.; and Dallas.
