AOPA stops e-mail alerts for Beale Air Force Base TFRs

The temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) over Marysville, Calif., that contain unmanned aerial vehicle operations for Beale Air Force Base have increased in frequency. Because the TFR frequency is likely to increase throughout the rest of the summer, AOPA will no longer send e-mail Airspace Bulletins reminding members of the TFRs. Pilots should check notams before every flight to see if a TFR is in place over Beale Air Force Base. Members can still get the notam, graphical depiction, and AOPA’s plain-language explanation of the TFR on AOPA Online. AOPA is working with the FAA and Air Force to try to mitigate the impact of these frequent TFRs. Members will still receive Airspace Bulletins alerting them of large TFRs associated with presidential visits to the area.
