Airport authority extends deadline to comment on curfew

Airport authority extends deadline to comment on curfew

Pilots have a little more time to make their voices heard thanks to a 30-day extension to the comment period on a proposal to institute a curfew at Bob Hope Airport. The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority voted to extend the comment period until June 13 at the request of the FAA. The airport authority wants to eliminate takeoffs and landings between 10 p.m. and 6:59 a.m., with exceptions for medical and firefighting operations, as well as aircraft with a declared in-flight emergency. AOPA plans to file comments opposing the plan, which would shift nighttime landings to surrounding airports, especially Van Nuys. Anyone wishing to submit questions or file comments regarding the proposed curfew can do so through the airport authority’s Web site.
