AOPA members can now get a 5 percent discount on any item purchased from the Sporty's Pilot Shop catalog with the AOPA Visa or MasterCard from MBNA. The new discount is an additional benefit which complements the 5 percent FBO rebate already available to AOPA members who use the AOPA credit card for any purchase up to $5,000 at a qualifying fixed-base operator.
"AOPA is always striving to help pilots reduce the cost of flying," said Phil Boyer, AOPA president. "Now AOPA members can save money on essential pilot supplies, training materials, and the AOPA Insignia Collection at Sporty's."
Sporty's has been bringing AOPA members AOPA Insignia merchandise since 1987. Each item proudly displays the AOPA wings and allows pilots to show their support for AOPA and general aviation.
The collection includes everything from watches, crew lights, and 12-in-1 survival tools to AOPA Pilot Insignia embroidered clothing, caps, and more. (The collection can be viewed online.)
But the 5 percent discount isn't limited to just the AOPA collection. Everything in Sporty's huge Pilot Shop catalog is eligible for the discount.
Sporty's Pilot Shop offers almost anything a pilot could need. Electronics, headsets, aviation books and videos, survival equipment, flight apparel, flight computers and plotters, and aircraft accessories and care products are just some of Sporty's offerings.
Sporty's also offers the AOPA Air Safety Foundation collection of safety publications and videotapes including type-specific safety reviews on popular GA aircraft and ASF's Pinch-Hitter® video.
Any member who buys any product from the Sporty's Pilot Shop catalog using an AOPA Visa or MasterCard from MBNA will receive an immediate 5 percent discount. The discount will be honored for any catalog or in-store purchase and will be given at the time of purchase.
"This is a tremendous benefit for AOPA members," said Boyer, "and it really demonstrates Sporty's and MBNA's commitment to general aviation."
Every purchase from the AOPA Insignia Collection and every purchase made on an AOPA credit card returns a royalty to AOPA for programs like the Airport Support Network. That helps keep AOPA dues low and GA strong.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is the world's largest pilot organization. AOPA's 365,000 members constitute 57 percent of all active U.S. pilots, some 75 percent of the nation's aircraft owners, and two thirds of active U.S. flight instructors.
For 39 years, Sporty's Pilot Shop has provided the general aviation community with products to make flying safer and more fun. Sporty's Pilot Shop specializes in training materials with its own line of educational videos so pilots may continually improve their knowledge and skills. Located at Clermont County Airport (I69) in Batavia, Ohio, Sporty's is the world's largest pilot shop.
