Pilots in the Asheville, N.C., area are urged to tell the FAA how plans to expand Class C airspace could affect them.
The FAA will have an informal airspace meeting Oct.14 to hear comments on its plans to expand the Class C airspace around Asheville, reducing the floor altitude of the airspace and fully encompassing the glideslope for approaches to Runway 16 and Runway 34 at Asheville Regional.
AOPA plans to file comments expressing its concerns that the changes will impact operations at nearby Hendersonville and urges pilots who will be affected by the planned airspace expansion to attend the public meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. at the O.D. Lacy Griffin Building, 21 Aviation Way in Fletcher.
Pilots who cannot attend the meeting have until Nov. 14 to submit written comments to: Mark Ward, Manager, Operations Support Group, Eastern Service Area, Air Traffic Organization, Federal Aviation Administration, 1701 Columbia Avenue, College Park, GA 30327. Comments must be submitted in triplicate and will be used to craft a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). When that NPRM is published in the Federal Register, pilots will have another opportunity to comment.
