Backcountry adventure Senior Editor Dave Hirschman and Photographer Chris Rose took the adventure of a lifetime last fall as they joined Aviat’s Stu Horn and 45 other adventurers flying 25 general aviation airplanes in the 3.3-million-acre Frank Church Wilderness Area in Idaho. The weeklong backcountry safari took a collection of Huskies, de Havilland Beavers, Cessna 172s, and Cherokee Sixes to the challenging airstrips situated along the rock-walled valleys carved by the Salmon River.
