FlightSafety International announces that its new American Eurocopter AS 350 B2 Flight Training Device has been qualified to Level 7 by the FAA. This advanced technology training device is located at FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Tucson, Ariz.
“This is the first flight training device to receive FAA Level 7 qualification,” said Bruce Whitman, president and CEO. “This demonstrates our ability to design and develop industry-leading training devices that provide helicopter operators with a highly effective and cost-efficient alternative to training in an aircraft.”
The flight training device is equipped with FlightSafety’s VITAL X visual system. It provides 220-degree by 100-degree (60 degrees down and 40 degrees up) wraparound visual capability. According to the company, the system offers highly detailed, texture-enhanced scenes, and a realistic presentation of both routine and critical weather conditions.
The AS 350 B2 flight training device is also equipped with a vibrating motion base that enhances the training experience by adding a new level of realism to the training scenarios. FlightSafety’s Tucson Learning Center will offer initial and recurrent training using the new flight training device. The training includes aircraft systems, emergency and abnormal procedures, as well as human factors and specialty training such as inadvertent IMC.
