Visit and bookmark our Web site designed especially to serve the information needs of student pilots. All AOPA Flight Training members, including those with free six-month introductory memberships, have full access to AOPA's resources, including the members-only areas of AOPA Flight Training Online and AOPA Online.

AOPA's New Internet Flight Planner

You've shown your flight instructor that you understand how to plan a cross-country flight using your best friends--the E6B, plotter, and sectional chart. And now you'd like to back up your calculations with a computerized flight planner. Why not start with AOPA's new Internet Flight Planner (AIFP)? Here are just a few reasons:

" AIFP is a highly capable Web-based tool that's accessible through popular browsers and operating systems--anywhere there's an Internet connection. It's compatible with Macs and personal computers.

" AIFP features a route planner that computes distance, time, and fuel usage based on cruising speed and type of aircraft.

" Real-time weather, temporary flight restriction graphical depictions, and enhanced terrain images help you plan your route accordingly.

" For each route, information pulled from AOPA's Airport Directory Online is displayed with links to fuel prices, terminal procedures, and local weather.

The AIFP is free to members, including those with introductory AOPA Flight Training memberships. If you've been using AOPA's Real-Time Flight Planner, you should know that your information, including your aircraft profiles and stored routes, has been migrated to AIFP. An extensive help file with images and short audio snippets is available to assist your AIFP navigation.

AOPA members got a chance to test-drive the AIFP at AOPA Expo 2008 in San Jose, California, in November. Now it's your turn. Log on to AOPA Online and start exploring this fantastic free benefit to AOPA members.
